Its so nice that it stays light till late..I mean its half past 8 now and still light which is really cool! So after Rome we had lunch (pasta again) and then we sort of just relaxed and slept for a bit....
Now we've just come back from a drive around to some of the neighboring rural little towns...I think the main place we went to was called Castelnuovo de Farfa and it was just me, Sara and her dad. It was so beautiful! So we drove right up the the highest peak of this little hill/kappie, you know, and right at the top was this cute little town, Sara said that its more of a place where people go when they retire and its really peaceful and small. So we walked up through these really narrow paved streets and like right there on the road were all these rural face-stone houses on top of each other....then at the highest point, like where you could not go higher, sat this monastery and a beautiful little church (unfortunately it was closed though so we couldn't go in) and then there was this view point where you could go look over that whole section of Italy, so stunning! I guess you could call it the Italian equivalent of looking off signal hill but obviously very different. And I thought we were just going for a drive so I didn't bring my camera which really sucks cause its was so so beautiful!! This part of Italy is made up mostly of orchards for wine and olives for olive oil and so they also cook almost everything with olive oil....
Tomorrow we are going back into Rome to finish our sightseeing....I would've actually liked to have a day off in between because it really is an exhausting endeavor with the trains and the heat and everything but its fine, I will conjure up all my energy....going to go have supper now and then we have hired an English movie, which is nice, to watch later...

Hey Caity - taken me half an hour but now after ten tries I can comment on your blog. SO as I was saying repeatedly (in comments that didn't get through!) Well done on surviving the culture and climate shock! It will get easier. I have been trying to find where you were scrolling around Google Earth. The coordinates for Castelnuovo de Farfa I think are 42°13'55.42"N 12°45'8.64"E so if your pals punch those into google earth they can see the countryside where you are and other people's awesome pics uploaded there. very picturesque. lots of love. Geord
ReplyDeleteDon't know what happened to my comments, but I have also tried a few times... lets see if this works
ReplyDeleteDad
Oi! It works! Just thought hat 0 comments looked so pitiful. Then Geord posted something while I was trying to as well. Who needs email? So, don't think that because there were no comments, we were not following your every blogstep! We were, and its brilliant! Well done, and keep it up. Hope you have settled in OK.
ReplyDeleteHi Cait, can you change your blog page background? It is impossible to see what is listed under the blog archive because of the black background. Hope you are having a great day! Love...
